  • Denis McCrane's Ski Jumping Challenge: Sarajevo 1983 By Uncultured Games Unrated Unfortunately disqualified due to story and concept having been written prior to the jam's start. Incredibly impressive textmode game. The gameplay is fully refined, and the aesthetics, mechanics and story are so well-made that the game is indiscernible from an '80s or '90s MS-DOS game. Strangely enough the listed platform is ZX Spectrum, which the game doesn't quite match, but had MS-DOS been the intended platform the game would've been perfect. The backstory and attention to detail in the presentation of the game is equally impressive. This would've been a contender for the first prize, had the game not been disqualified. Check out Denis McCrane's Ski Jumping Challenge: Sarajevo 1983
  • Astro Hunter By haroldo-ok Unrated Unfortunately the game is disqualified due to using code from previous projects. Otherwise an incredibly impressive submission given that it's an actaul Sega Master System ROM. Check out Astro Hunter
  • Mixed! By TL Studios Unrated No available Windows- or browser executable. Check out Mixed!
  • Robotic Combat Project VCS (Lost Cartridge Jam) By Lev1 Unrated Unfortunately disqualified due to assets having been created prior to the jam's start. Aesthetics are quite accurate. Check out Robotic Combat Project VCS (Lost Cartridge Jam)
  • Rice By Blas Mena Unrated No available Windows- or browser executable. Check out Rice
  • PowerPutt Legend By Team Bugulon Unrated Unfortunately the game is disqualified due to using code from previous projects. Incredibly impressive game. The aesthetics perfectly match the NES, not to mention that the quality is superb. Great level selector. In-game graphics are on par with highly-polished NES games like Kirby's Adventure. Gameplay is very fun and engaging. The game is almost indiscernible from a real, quality 1990s NES game. The game would've been a first place contender had it been a valid submission. Check out PowerPutt Legend
  • Portal 2600 By ivancilgames Unrated No playable Windows- or Browser executable available. Check out Portal 2600
  • Sheriff Hattery By lewisbacon5 Unrated Unfortunately the game is disqualified due to sprites having been created prior to the jam starting. Decent beginner's attempt at a jam submission. Check out Sheriff Hattery
  • Handless Kombat By Shadow Kitsune Windows Vista Pixel size is inconsistent with the resolution, and gameplay is a little bit hard to understand. Adherence to platform is a bit inconsistent given that the graphics are very low-resolution despite the fact that the intended platform is Windows Vista. Good as far as a beginner's jam game goes. design 1 aesthetics 0 believability 0 extras 0 Total 1 Check out Handless Kombat
  • ONION By DanielSour NES The game aims to simulate the technical limitations of the NES, and while it does so reasonably well in terms of game resolution, it unfortunately suffers from pixel inconsistency, where some objects are drawn at a size larger than the intended resolution, and others are drawn at a pixel-appropriate scale. Gameplay-wise it's a bit hard to determine what the game expects you to do, but it looks like a simple game of avoiding the knife while attempting to catch a tomato. The game requires a bit more polishing before release, but as far as a simple jam game goes, it's a decent start for an aspiring game designer. design 1 aesthetics 0 believability 0 extras 0 Total 1 Check out ONION

  • Urban Shadow By mrfields NES Aesthetics are a little bit too high-fidelity and at the same time casually-drawn for a NES game. Stylistically the game looks more like a Windows 3.11 Klik & Play game. • The Yeti Siege By blaark Atari 2600 Aesthetics are a bit too high-fidelity for the intended platform. At the same time, the sprites are a bit too crudely drawn. Gameplay is a bit challenging to navigate. design 1 aesthetics 1 believability 0 extras 0 Total 2 Check out The Yeti Siege
  • GUNGUY By myrrialia SNES Aesthetics are decent, but the pixel resolutions are inconsistent across graphics. The NES music doesn't quite suit the intended platform. • Moon Defence By WilgotW SNES Graphics look more like a Windows 3.11 game than a SNES game, given the tiny, crudely-drawn sprites in a high-resolution window as well as the fact that the game uses the mouse for movement. Stylistically it's a bit reminiscent of Windwos 3.11 games like SkiFree or Daisy's Garden. The HUD is a bit glitchy, but there's a nice, basic gameplay loop. The game is a good beginner's attempt. design 1 aesthetics 1 believability 0 extras 0 Total 2 Check out Moon Defence

  • Faragax By JAFYgames NES Faragax is a space shooter that targets the technical limitations of the NES. Aesthetically the game matches the NES' resolution and color scheme, and gameplay-wise it manages to offer a gameplay cycle of a fully-fledged space shooter - complete with powerups. The one point of improvement might be the quality of the sprites, which are just a bit on the side of simple compared to what NES games look like. Still, it's a sufficiently functional game for what it is. design 1 aesthetics 1 believability 1 extras 0 Total 3 Check out Faragax
  • UFO sighted! (NES Prototype) By torte00 NES The game is an actual NES ROM, which is impressive. The aesthetics look a bit like a mid-1980s NES game. • RenjaRacing I By aZamBie PSX Pixels are a little bit inconsistent, in that there's high-fidelity graphics over dithered low-fidelity pixelart. The game is a little bit buggy, and the movement is a bit unreliable. The music is superb, and the game offers a lot of comedic moments. Aesthetics are a little bit on the lower end and the game doesn't adhere to the intended platform, but what the game lacks in mechanics and accuracy it makes up for with humor. design 1 aesthetics 1 believability 1 extras 0 Total 3 Check out RenjaRacing I

  • SCUBA - Treasure Hunter By GamesByJack SNES Doesn't fit the intended platform, but the aesthetics are very unique, and the attention to detail in terms of amount of content produced is impressive. • What Lay Beneath By Long Story Short Games SNES Pleasant game with well-designed levels and a satisfying gameplay loop. Aesthetics don't quite match the intended platform, as the game looks a little bit more like a Net Yaroze-game for the PSX rather than a SNES game. The CRT is a little bit too exaggerated, but is a nice touch. design 2 aesthetics 1 believability 0 extras 1 Total 4 Check out What Lay Beneath
  • Assassino Rivelato By StaticQuo Game Boy Color palette doesn't quite suit the intended platform. Sprites are a little bit on the lower end. • Sanctum-NES By suitntie22 NES Title screen and level selectors are quite aesthetically pleasing. The game has professional-grade graphics and music. In-game sprites and tiles are a bit too rich for a NES game, and the player's acceleration, deceleration and movements don't quite conform to the intended platform. Gameplay is a little bit buggy, as it's easy to get stuck from time to time. The screen shaking effect feels a bit out of place in a NES game. A decent beginner's attempt at a jam submission. design 1 aesthetics 2 believability 1 extras 0 Total 4 Check out Sanctum-NES
  • Detroit City By n.s.chaitanya Unspecified platform Graphic fidelity is a bit inconsistent. Music is decent, but starts to get a bit stressful and repetitive. Gameplay loop is simple but sufficient, though aesthetically the game feels more like an arcade game for Windows 3.11 or Windows 95 rather than a dedicated arcade cabinet game. design 2 aesthetics 1 believability 1 extras 0 Total 4 Check out Detroit City
  • Super Block World Demo By Mr. Hobbyist Games Zinclair ZX81 Pixel resolution is unfortunately inconsistent across in-game graphics. Acceleration and deceleration feels a bit too modern for the intended platform. The aesthetics are decent, and the score counter and level messages are a nice touch. The gameplay loop is sufficient for a jam submission. design 1 aesthetics 2 believability 1 extras 0 Total 4 Check out Super Block World Demo
  • Bomba-Mouse By moebeats Unspecified platform Aesthetically the game doesn't quite feel like an arcade game, mainly due to the stylized low-fidelity pixelart. It doesn't make much sense for an arcade game to make use of the mouse also. The gameplay concept is interesting, the gameplay loop is sufficient, and the level design is good. design 2 aesthetics 2 believability 0 extras 0 Total 4 Check out Bomba-Mouse
  • Carrot Girl By SuperFlounder NES Title screen looks very NES-like, and the graphics are pretty impressive. In-game graphics look a bit like Bible Adventures. • XOL By Spirit Lamp NES The game conforms quite well to the intended platform. The level design is impressive, and the graphics and gameplay are in line with a mid-1980s NES game. • Scrap Space Fighter By Bread Unspecified platform The aesthetics, including both the title screen and in-game graphics feels space arcadey. The controls are a bit slippery and slow, but the game is fun once you overcome the difficulty. • Alya: The Tripower's Return By CopheeMoth Game Boy Color Aesthetics reminiscent of Zelda: Link's Awakening. Music and setting also allude to Wonder Boy in Monster Land. In-game aesthetics accurately portray the GBC aesthetics, but the bounciness and rapid speed of the enemies at times feels a little bit out of place for a GBC-like. Gameplay consists of roaming the overworld and attacking enemies with a sword. Movement is a little bit iffy as the protagonist tends to get stuck in narrow passages. Ultimately the game feels like a walkabout demo, as if to showcase a world prepared for more gameplay to be added. design 1 aesthetics 2 believability 2 extras 0 Total 5 Check out Alya: The Tripower's Return

  • Super Marine Pirates By Dino0040 SNES Aesthetics are quite accurate. Gameplay is a bit challenging to understand, but the Mode7 effect and basic gameplay are sufficiently engaging. The music and sound effects being 8-bit doesn't quite suit a game targeting the SNES. Some of the intended gameplay systems such as repairing didn't appear to be working, nor did it seem possible to bring up the game's shop. Aside from that the game was an impressive submission. The 3D-rendered game cover was an extra nice touch. design 1 aesthetics 2 believability 2 extras 1 Total 6 Check out Super Marine Pirates
  • Happy's Harvest By thinkingonpause Nintendo 64 Reasonably accurate as far as a Nintendo 64 game's aesthetics goes. • All Gas By codo Sega Saturn Drawing inspiration from the Sega Saturn, All Gas is a third person flight game that revolves around collecting gas and speed boosts. The objective of the game is to reach the end of the map, which has been built in a manner that is very typical of Sega Saturn-games. Rather than the game invoking endless simulating scrolling, it takes the player across the twists and turns of a hand-built emvironment. Aesthetically the game holds up, in that the 3D models and landscapes are both well-made but also invoke the hallmark graphical limitations of the Sega Saturn, perhaps in a way that's comparable to games like Nights into Dreams. The one criticism would be the sound effects and background music, the former which is a bit too low-fidelity for a Sega Saturn-game, and the latter which is a bit insufficiently balanced. Gameplay is simple, but sufficient for a jam submission. A nice touch is the fact that it actually has an ending, which is sometimes a hard feat to pull off for a game jam. design 2 aesthetics 2 believability 2 extras 0 Total 6 Check out All Gas
  • Location: Unknown -- A Lost Prison Stealth Game By Buhfias Productions Game Boy Interesting stealth game. • Saturdays By Wrong Way Games Game Boy An impressive full-length visual novel in Game Boy-form. • Puck the Pangolin By Marc Cook Nintendo 64 Music is either surrealistic or garbled and feels out of place given the theme. Resolution is a bit too high for the intended platform. Models look quite accurate for a PSX/N64-style platformer. Intro felt very in line with N64-platformers specifically, Controls sometimes unfortunately won't work, as the movement keys will sometimes rotate by 90 degrees. Rebooting fixes this. Level card looked a bit primitive. 3D filters are too high-fidelity for the intended platform. Level design is superb in terms of how believable it is. Hitting enemies is challenging, and a lot of the mechanics are wonky and need more refinement. The gameplay loop is absoultely excellent. Overall the game manages to evoke feelings of a classic N64 platformer to an impressive extent, and the amount of content is equally well-done. The 3D-rendered cartridge is an extra nice touch. design 2 aesthetics 2 believability 2 extras 1 Total 7 Check out Puck the Pangolin
  • Unlimited F1 '96 By CheapeeSoft Games Sega Saturn Incredibly impressive game. The aesthetics and design accurately match the intended platform. The amount of content - menu screens, car types and gameplay mechanics - far exceeds any expectations for a three-day jam. The game fully represents all the facets of a commercial racing game from the '90s. Unfortunately premade assets will not count towards the final score. design 2 aesthetics 2 believability 3 extras 0 Total 7 Check out Unlimited F1 '96
  • Star Circle: SCB (Playable Build) By lams Game Boy Nice story and aesthetics. Feels like a comprehensive Game Boy game. Gameplay is perhaps a bit tedious at times. What's most impressive is that the game was made as an actual Game Boy ROM. Music is also quite nice. design 2 aesthetics 3 believability 3 extras 0 Total 8 Check out Star Circle: SCB (Playable Build)
  • Miner Mania By Marty Starkiller (Twin Pines Soft) NES Resolution and graphics are very reminiscent of the intended platform. The gameplay loop is enganging and comprehensive, but is made challenging by the difficulty in telling apart foreground tiles from background tiles. Music and audio is both well-made and suitable for the intended platform. Overall the game is nearly indiscernible from a 1980s-era NES game. design 2 aesthetics 3 believability 3 extras 0 Total 8 Check out Miner Mania
  • Froggy Quest By WaffleWorks Game Boy Perfect attempt at a Game Boy-game. Aesthetics, music, title screen, color palette and movement are all fully in line with what Game Boy-games looked like and how they behaved - including transitions and title cards. In addition, the artwork and music are high quality, and the game offers 15 whole levels of well-designed gameplay. design 3 aesthetics 3 believability 3 extras 0 Total 9 Check out Froggy Quest
